They built the team for the short term, like recruiting Modric, of course they realize that they might only be able to utilize this aging player for one or two seasons, but I think AC Milan's management did not build this team to compete for the title and I'm even sure they didn't make the team much better than last season, so I won't have high expectations for AC Milan next season.
AC Milan's squad is not stable. We have been seeing AC Milan's frail and inconsistent performance for the last few seasons. Last season too , AC Milan was in the eighth place in the points table. It is idotic to think that Milan will fight for the title this season. If Milan's target was to win the title , the management would have tried to strengthen their squad. But Milan management did not do anything like that.
AC Milan bought Samuele Ricci this season for 23 million. Milan did not have to spend any money to add Modrich to the squad. It was a free transfer. Milan should have tried to strengthen the defense. Milan's defense was not as strong as expected last season.
Experienced midfielders like Modrich have been brought into the Milan squad to keep their midfield stable. If Modrich can play well, Milan's attack will be stronger. Talented players like Leao and Pulisic are in the forwards.
