Premier League clubs are spending big. Arsenal, City, Chelsea and Liverpool are all set to spend over €200m in the transfer market. But Serie A clubs are lagging far behind. Juventus, Milan and Napoli are perhaps the biggest spenders.
Napoli spent around €75m on Beukema, Noa lang, Marianucci and Lucca.
Inter Milan spent around €66m on Henrique, Bonny, Sucic and Zalewaski.
Juventus management spent around €90m on Concacao, Gonzalez, Kalulu and Gregorio.
No team has reached the €100m mark. Have Serie A clubs suddenly become poor? Or are the owners no longer interested in spending more money on running their clubs?
But is it even fair to compare these two league? Premier league can not be compared to Italian Serie A in every angle one can think of and we shouldn't expect Italian teams to spend as much as Premier league teams. A team can only spend huge amount of money during transfer market depending on their revenue generation and the management zeal to invest in the team. Majority of Italian clubs management are not longer willing to invest heavily in their teams again perhaps due to low income. I don't blame the club owners, they are just playing smart and financial wise because it doesn't make sense wasting so much money without result to show for it.
