Considering his performance, his age at 26, and his achievements last season and likely next, Atalanta and Mateo Retegui's decision is indeed quite unfortunate. However, with a current asset value of €45.00 million and an eventual transfer fee of €68.25 million, perhaps this is just a matter of financial calculations.

And perhaps most interestingly, his salary alone is already five times higher. Based on this information, it's understandable that he was tempted by the transfer fee and salary offered by Al-Qadsiah, even though he was the top scorer in Serie A last season.
