Such kind of programs exist in many countries. But making a payment processor like Venmo available for such donations, is something new.
I am wondering if the national debt is now going beyond a control measure in US? I know it's in trillion but compared to the overall GDP of US, it should still be manageable by the administration.
Are the donors getting tax benefits for helping the nation? There must some kind of perks for helping the country!
The Venmo part isn't the most important issue in such case, perhaps they're affiliated or something (maybe their CEO is a republican haha), it is actually questionable. The most ridiculous part of this is that they're asking for donations on a huge debt that will never be repaid and is solely their own responsibility. Perhaps they should start selling the private jets Trump is flying on, or the expensive limo costing up to $1.5M, but requesting free money, the taxation isn't enough, seems a much better choice.
