Fluminense has been in a mental decline since the FIFA Club World Cup.
They played two home matches. They lost to Cruzeiro in the first match and Palmeiras yesterday. They also lost 1-0 away to Flamengo.
They have lost three of their last three matches. Only Jhon Arias has left the team. I must say I'm surprised by Fluminense's decline.
Fluminense in this Club World Cup was a huge distortion of reality. Now the team is back to normal. It’s the same thing I’ve always said, including last year about Botafogo... Sometimes it feels like there’s this weird phase where weaker teams manage to stand out. Fluminense was fighting against relegation in the 2024 Brazilian Championship, and then suddenly they have the kind of Club World Cup performance they had, it makes no sense at all. It doesn’t add up. So now things are back to normal... I believe this Fluminense team will once again be fighting to avoid relegation in this year’s league.
