I think we all have some experience where we gamble more frequently at some point in our lives. I guess it's safe to say, that is the point where we can consider we got addicted to gambling. Luckily, we were able to overcome it as we are able to minimize our gambling urges now as we grow old having a lot of financial responsibilities.
That is the kind of gambling addiction that are within our control.
There are moments when we sometimes become fixated on gambling, and our games become much more intense than before. However, I don't think this is a form of addiction, but rather a case of FOMO or hype, because situations like this always come and go.
Perhaps if we’re too strict, we might label this as addiction, but I feel it’s simply a situation where we’re overly focused and the hype around gambling is so high that we engage in intense gambling without even realizing it.
This is indeed not good behavior, but it’s also not appropriate to label it as addiction, considering that we don’t always do the same thing continuously but only at certain moments like that. However, this can also have more severe consequences if we normalize it too much, as addiction can become a domino effect when we normalize it and don’t want to change the bad habits we’ve developed.
