Getting flogged by Flamengo U21 a few days ago was just a prelude of what is to come. Xhaka knows Leverkusen is finished with ETH at the club, and that's why he wants out before it's too late. Another thing is that he's not fighting to move to a bigger club, as most players would do. He's fighting to go to Sunderland, which Leverkusen is obviously bigger than. That tells me he's desperate about leaving and does not want to stick around when the ship starts sinking.
I think Eric Ten Hag knows better than where he is falling due to his performance in Manchester United. He is under the huge criticism. He needs to do well for himself just to raise his image positively that is now under discussion in a very negative way. Bayern leverkusen is a good team and it is expected that Eric ten Hag will give his Hundred percent to the team in the sense to re build his image. But the results of pre-season are very disappointing and again set the minds of fans where he left at Manchester United. I think now he is not more trustworthy and he completely fails to prove himself as a good coach. And i don't think he will again receive any chance anywhere. Because this was a golden chance for him.
Ten Hag is still adapting, and the preseason results shouldn't be taken too seriously, but they shouldn't have lost 5-1 to a mediocre club. Because of Ten Hag previous poor managerial record with Manchester United, people tend to immediately judge him with harsh criticism. In my opinion, Ten Hag still needs to experiment a lot to build a solid team, as Xabi Alonso did before him.
Ten Hag performance can only be seriously assessed when Leverkusen kick off the new season in the Bundesliga, Champions League, and DFB-Pokal, and I'm confident Leverkusen performance will be even better than their preseason. Ten Hag focus currently seems to be on the transfer market, as Leverkusen appears to be working on strengthening their squad to build better depth.
