If you can do that, you need to be quick on it because altcoin season just might come and go on an instant. And while many awaits for that, there should be a clear plan on how you're going to take advantage of your profits there. Many still miss to cash their profits and convert it into Bitcoin which is a better form of investing and usage of their money. Because if others keep on waiting on it and it doesn't come but, they've come prepared by having Bitcoin. It's a fact that they have outperformed traders and alt holders.
Most people have already invested in both Bitcoin and altcoins - they're earning returns from both simultaneously. If anyone of us sold Bitcoin and invested in altcoins solely out of bullish expectations, I believe they'll have to wait longer, as the altcoin season hasn't been confirmed yet. I'm not sure why they wait for the season to come when they can diversify from the start - they could get a good return I think.

Most altcoins have doubled their previous prices so far - but further gains are expected. An altcoin season is expected to arrive later this year - but I'm not entirely sure what triggered it. Declining Bitcoin dominance could be one reason for the arrival of altcoin season - but so far, Bitcoin still dominates the market.
You're right, someone who has held Bitcoin and decided to sell it for an altcoin, they'll need to wait longer. Well, I've done that myself and I was wrong with that but learned on it eventually. If I just held the bitcoins that I've invested with some of the altcoins in the past that are dead now, I should have gotten more profits then. But because of how the community was easily shilled and can be suggested with various projects and fake promises, many become easily bought onto that hype.
