I lost my assets in a non-custodial wallet, Trustwallet. Trustwallet isn't completely open source for some, but I still use it. That's not the lesson or story I want to share. The story goes that I was once browsing an adult video site until a pop-up appeared recommending downloading a file so I could browse there smoothly.
I did that at night, until morning came & I wanted to check my portfolio on Trustwallet, all the assets were gone, transferred to an address I didn't know. I'm sure it must have come from the file I downloaded, the lesson you can take is don't download files carelessly, coz it can be risky for you.
This is a very good advice giving and the lesson learned by us. I think it is almost a known fact that we should not download random applications and files in the phone in which we stored our crypto. Anyone clicking random links online in the phone in which they have their crypto is liable to lose it at any time because most of those males are actually stored in things like the adult videos you are watching. Meanwhile the best practice should be that you should have a separate phone for browsing whatever things you wish, then another for saving your crypto if you cannot be modest in your phone usage.
After I learnt about trojan virus and the stories behind it, I have become extremely careful in downloading things. I no longer download unless it is absolutely necessary.
