It really depends on the gambler. back then, I had no clue about RTP, I just played the slots I enjoyed without thinking much about the house edge. since I was having fun, I didn’t bother checking the technical side. But eventually, when the wins stopped coming, that’s when I started digging into the details and realized most slots have nearly the same RTP, mainly because they come from just a few providers. So now, I always consider two things: how fun the game is and what its RTP is.
it's good to check RTP, as some slots have different RTP versions (you alwasy want to be playing on the highest one), but one more thing to consider is the volatility of the slot, each provider has their own labels, but it mostly comes down to: low (more wins, small payouts), medium (50/50), and high (few wins, big payouts).
and if you want to go full technical, you need to consider RTP, volatility, max win payout, hit frequency, and bonus frequency.
RTP alone isn't enough to pick the best slot to play as you can have two slots from the same provider with the same RTP and volatility, and one will be better than the other.
but it will just be personal preferences, as in the end, you will win/lose the same amount of $$$ since that's based on RTP.
