Easier said than done, to be honest.
This reminds me the a situation which was discussed already in a different thread, about a gambling father who discovered his underage daughter was engaging with casinos and wagering money at seventeen years old. To me, the way to go is teaching teens and early adults about the contrasts which one can find within the world of gambling, instead completely turning it into a taboo topic. Think about it, most content in social media which is consumed by people and is related to gambling is about winning big and how some people has managed to pull some huge multipliers off, it is okey the next generation sees that, but they also need to see the other side of the coin and learn how gambling has ruined the life of some people because of their condition of gambling addicts, teaching and allowing them to see both parts of this ecosystem and world is important, so they have realistic expectations on gambling, reducing their chances of becoming addicted and wager recklessly.
I believe curiosity of human mind itself will let future generation knew it by themselves regardless if we teach them or not as long as they saw old generations doing it before.
In my case, I became interested on playing gambling because I watch old neighbors during my childhood how to gamble without them teaching me. It’s through observation that makes curious on what’s they are doing.
Curiosity in their teenager will be a matter that parents need to realize. The era has changed a lot and teenager can get more info from the internet with or without their parents know. So without a good relationship between parents and kids, their teenager may get in a trap from the many offers they see on their social media pages.
So it is normal if parents must pay attention to their teenagers especially for their relationship with their friends. Parents can not monitor their kids 24 hours, but parents can talk privately with their teenagers so this can build a good relationship between them.
I watched on Telegram from some young generations near my home. I see they chat with so many people in a group and sometimes, gambling offers show up and tempt them to join. Some of those teenagers tried it because of curiosity. So this is something that we need to solve.
