It doesn’t take much intelligence to lose money — I don’t understand how that could be a reason to show off or feel superior. Now, if those millionaires were showing that, alongside making money from their main ventures, they were also winning big at the casino — that could be seen as something impressive, something like what you’re describing.
But just flaunting the fact that you can afford to lose a large amount — so what? You lost it. Anyone can do that.
If money is unlimited, many people might think why gamble anymore when they have unlimited funds.
But I think there's nothing wrong with spending a small amount of money just for fun, and the thrill of gambling is there. Even with plenty of money, you can still feel the thrill of winning big.
In my paper trader today, I earned a total of $7k and one thing came to my mind which was that assuming the money were real, I would have funded my casino account with $1k and play my favourite slot game because I was really in the mood of gambling and playing slot in particular. Another thought came into my mind that what would I have been targeting again with that kind of money. But I later realize that if I have big money, I will still gamble just for passion and not just for money.
Yes, sometimes even people play because they are bored with big money and they are looking for a game, excitement, adrenaline to entertain themselves somehow in the game. But this is a slippery slope, because you can do such things that in the end you lose huge money. I realized over many years in the game that you always need to control yourself, because as soon as we relax, then we can lose bet after bet, and then the classic scenario with wagering every day. Well, if the money, like in a fairy tale, never ended, then naturally I would play my favorite games constantly, but everything has an end, even interest in gambling.
