Shall we say "top 2"?

Because Xabi Alonso achieved a sensational success in his first season there. And he still managed to keep his team's presence in top 2 in his last season.
They must have increased their expectations as a result. But on the other hand, of course I don't expect them to sack Erik ten Hag in case of finishing out of this area but still joining the Champions League. Patience is important in this job.
Finishing top 2 will be great but I don't see that happening, when you look at the qualities gone and the incomings to replace them are not all that. Xabi Alonso had six months before his debut season, so he had all the failings and ideas he needed to infuse into his project and team. Increasing expectations is nice, but they should have a set goal at the end of the season. I don't know of I'd want to say that patience talks again.
