Just wanted to share my recent experience because it seems like there might be big changes coming to how we gamble. As we all know, gambling in the Philippines is already widespread, and addiction has become common since it’s so easy to gamble through mobile apps. Even payment apps like GCash have added casinos to their platform, letting people bet with just a small minimum amount.

But earlier, I was surprised when I opened the app to gamble because it now required me to take a selfie before proceeding. I’m thinking this might be part of the government’s move to ensure minors can’t gamble. Do you think this is a good first step?

I'm not familiar with the situation in the Philipines, so maybe I shouldn't give my opinion. Why is GCash gambling friendly?
Aren't online casinos in the Philipines KYC compliant? Making KYC verification mandatory would serve the same purpose as requiring a selfie.
Do you really believe that minors have money to gamble? Who is giving them money for gambling? What if some teenagers look old enough to be mistaken as adults? Would a selfie serve as a valid proof that they are under legal age? I don't think so. Imposing KYC is the best step to ensure minors won't gamble(but I still wonder where do minors get money to gamble).
