Interesting move, but also somewhat concerning. On one hand, I understand the need to protect minors and introduce some form of control. But on the other hand, this feels like another step toward deeper surveillance and loss of privacy. When payment apps start requiring a selfie for every action, it really shows how far we’ve drifted from the idea of personal freedom

Maybe the real focus should be on education and personal responsibility, not on pushing us further into centralized control. Because once biometric data starts being used for things like this, it’s hard to draw the line.

Honestly, it’s not really about preventing minors from gambling because to create a GCash account, you need to be 18+ and verified. A minor can’t just open a regular GCash account. There’s GCash Jr, which I even got for my daughter, but that one can’t access gambling games, so minors are already safe. I’m not sure what the government is trying to achieve with this move, maybe it’s just to make sure that the person gambling is really the account owner.

Possible, since gcash can possibly access by the young adults who have access with their parents/guardians devices they can quickly use it to play, taking selfie will add additional protection to both the real owners and those young adults who learned gambling in their young age, better for those parents/guardians who are really concern about their kids, they can save thier butt from losing huge amount.
