the site was forced to start using Cloudflare to get some protection against the attacks.
Cloudflare quite literally built a business earning money from DDoS
attacks protection. It's like anti-virus companies earning money from (the threat of) computer virusses. Makes you wonder....
This DDoS attacks are spreading like wild fires on many website, as if they forcing everyone to use cloudflare as protection.
I found it interesting how someone is specially targeting anything related with privacy and non-kyc services

I have a different look at it: if nobody would use DDoS-protection, websites would indeed occasionally go down because of DDoS. But the baddies can only target so many sites at once, meaning most sites wouldn't be under attack most of the time. Once they're hiding behind privacy invading DDoS-protection, they're no longer a target so the DDoS moves over to the next website. Which means that the more websites hide behind DDoS-protection, the more attacks happen on the remaining sites to force them to do the same!
This quote comes to mind:
The Internet is seriously flawed if everyone needs to huddle behind these huge centralized anti-DDoS companies in order to survive...
