Not all privacy coin users are criminals, if they want to categorise all of us as the same they need to prove that I am a criminal, as a mixer and privacy coin user I am innocent until proven otherwise.
Taking down a decentralized project is practically impossible, Bitcoin started in a roughly with claims to be used mainly for illicit transactions, we are a decade away and Bitcoin is more popular to an extent of government considering as part of national reserve.

Listing out privacy coin as a means for criminals to transact funds while abandoning fiat out of the mention is a hypocritical behavior for me, i strongly believe the highest illicit transaction happens no where except through the bank which involves the use of fiat. Bitcoin is built on public ledger that means all transactions can be traced, while banks only record immediate transactions and have everything as data which in their control can be altered.
