Yes, my country for some reasons unexplainable to me keeps on prioritizing imported goods when we have local producers anyway. For example, rice. Instead of supporting farmers and providing them whatever they need, they just import other rice. Countries with natural resources should be maximizing the potential of the economic sector but somehow they are stuck in getting products from other countries.
This is actually bad for a country that can produce those goods and food sufficiency if they are importing. There is no way to stop this but to have good local governance and leaders that have the heart to support the locally made and produce food. Food security is vital for a country and if they keep on relying on the imported goods even if they have resources and ways to produce, that's going to make the cost of those primary goods to be quite expensive. While for the other counties that don't have good land to produce food, it's understandable and normal for them to have imported goods.
