For me I feel is not yet time to see what this guy is made of and it will only be rival fans who are going hard on him (Viktor Gyökeres), let the new season come and let's see if he's worth it or not but for now let the man breath.
It seems Gyokeres is still struggling to adapt to Arteta's playing style and strategy. He didn't even stand out in that match. However, the previous friendly against Tottenham was similar. He wasn't able to deliver a particularly impressive performance. However, I wouldn't be too quick to judge. He could simply be getting used to it. He could even improve in the coming season. However, if he continues like this, Arsenal's transfer fee will likely be worthless.
So, yeah, I'm of the same opinion as you, that to see what this player is like, we'll have to wait until the season actually starts. Because that's when he might actually show his performance beyond our expectations.
