The matches that are played now, from pre-season, are just friendlies, nothing exciting
Furthermore, these are matches that make little sense, given that many coaches experiment with things they otherwise couldn't do.
different modules, different formations, different strategies
things you can't experience in the league or cup
so there is no point in considering them

Preseason is more like warm up phase for teams to familiarize with one or two things due to exchange of one or two players and coaches. It wouldn't make too much sense for a player and coach to be crown to a new club without warm up section to test their capabilities with other teams, it's going to look like a trap and that's why I'm not really too interest in what's going on at this moment, too much heartbreaks from teams that has form too good players that are ready.
Right now, I'm not really seeing what I expect from many teams. Manchester United is looking average to me but the media is pushing them like they are ready to be the new hot cake. Chelsea is having the same energy, like I'm even surprised to see Maresca among the best coach nomination on Balon D'or vote, I'm like what is this man doing here but the game is the game, the award has lose it's credibility in the last years, nobody gives much attention to them like before.
