I agree, we have to be disciplined in all means when we gamble for us to keep on track. Because not everyone who gambles are having that control to themselves.
So to those who are good in risk and capital management, they all have better way on how to treat their gambling activities better. That prevents them from being addictive.
And with those actions for how they manage those things that we have mentioned, it helps them to check themselves if ever they're about to get addicted or lose control of themselves.
Because if we're already out of control, we lose ourselves as well and that leads to a worse situation that a gambler can ever have. By that mean that it's worse, it's hard to escape if someone gets onto that situation.

I agree with you when say that discipline and risk management are essential for any gambler, but I think the main point here is that some people only realize this when they're already at a losing spiral. Therefore, I think its necessary to go further... beyond "having control," its important for gamblers to set clear limits and rules before they even start playing.

How do you do this? By setting loss limits per session, week or month, and sticking to them... takyng regular breaks to avoid impulsive decisions, and if possible also recording your bets to later spot patterns and see what could be improved.

These are simple things, but they will help you make discipline a normal and routine thing... because the good intention of "controlling yourself" alone won't prevent you from losing control.
It has always been that the realization comes at the end. And many gamblers do realize that when they're already about to lose everything. It could be a problem to them at the start when they are starting to see that they're losing all.
But they don't take that into notice until that it becomes more serious and they have to act more on it.
I agree that every limit should be made when we gamble to mitigate these losses that we might have. And if this has been practiced for a while.
it will become a habit that a gambler will make him responsible at most times and won't find someone to blame for their losses anymore.
