However, in the match between Liverpool vs PSG, I considered Liverpool as the favorite team and last season, Liverpool was one of the top four teams in the Champions League for me but they could not show a very good performance. Since PSG defeated Liverpool, I started expecting something good from this team and gradually PSG performed well and defeated bigger teams. The biggest obstacle for PSG was Real Madrid and many thought that PSG would not be able to win against Real Madrid but they defeated Real Madrid and ensured the desired final.

PSG didn't face Madrid in the champions league, it was arsenal that did. Maybe it would've been a tough test but we'd never know now as Arsenal eliminated them prior. Real Madrid don't rate the Club World Cup as much as they do the UCL so maybe there would've been a twist.

As a Liverpool fan, I backed PSG that night that they eliminated Liverpool in the penalty shootout. My thesis was simple. If they could make Liverpool look powerless for both legs of the round of 16,then they can beat almost all renaming teams and they did.

They didn't make Liverpool look powerless, that's an exaggeration of what was going on in that game.

What I don't understand is why a Liverpool fan in a series game is hoping that the other team wins. I can't remember I was hoping for a team I am not a fan of to win against a team that I am a fan of. Maybe is there is some fate or touching story involved, but not even then would a real Liverpool fan hope that his team loses.

Real Madrid got kind of spoiled when they won the Champions League three times because it raised the impression that history would repeat itself again and again, but the competition is too strong and it is not very likely that any team will win it three times in a row soon.
