In the event of a Bitcoin investor, trader or regular user ignores this warning probably due to an oversight or ignorance and proceeds to send a transaction to the wrong chain or network,
Does this kind of transactions ever get processed?
Where does the transaction ends?
Does the chain used in transactions notifies or invalidates an address?
I haven’t made the error of sending transactions to the wrong chain but, I’m just curious in any eventuality. It’s often started that, these are likely irreversible as it’s the nature of Bitcoin transactions or cryptocurrency transactions as a whole. So, it’s best we get it right and what to do in any eventuality.
If a transaction is confirmed on the chain, then it's not the wrong chain when dealing with CEX. It would be wrong for the sender, not for the chain. Because the CEX detects the type of the address. Right now I just try to withdraw USDT from the Ethereum chain to the Bitcoin chain, but Bybit shows the wrong address type. That means you won't be able to withdraw in the wrong chain. Those address types are the same, like ERC and BSC, so mistakes might happen. It doesn't call the wrong chain; it does call mistakes.
However, most of the exchange support the same type of address. All BSC and ERC addresses are the same on the exchange, so even if you send to another chain by mistake, your funds should be credited. But need to be careful about sending tokens. Unless they support it, then it will not be credited to your account. It will exist on the chain. If the amount is big and the exchange doesn't support it, then you might appeal. The exchange also charges for that to refund the tokens. Unless the amount is big, exchanges don't bother to work on that. In such a case, the token will exist on the chain.
