Since it's a pre-season cup, it's not worth putting too much weight on Liverpool, but Crystal Palace gave them a good lesson. I wasn't expecting them to fight for the title with the same hunger and excitement this season anyway. Although Slot is trying to play the same game, they've already shown the first signs -especially Salah- that they won't be as good as last season. Wirtz and Frimpong made their debut and they were quite good. However, the rest of the team couldn't keep up with them. Like many champion teams, they also seem to have some complacency.
The Community Shield doesn't look like a priority to Liverpool as it is for Crystal palace so palace energy was just what I had expected from them facing Liverpool in this cup final. I was glad they didn't disappoint on taking the goal chances they had as this would serve as a boost to them coming into the new EPL season. For Liverpool, I think this shouldn't be any reason for me to doubt their capacity to fight in defence of their championship in the EPL, but I'll suggest that Slot strive to get a player like Alexander Isak to his team as it will increase his team's depth beyond what he currently has in the attack.
