Inter Milan journey last season was truly dismal. They were on track to win the treble, but ultimately, they were unlucky in all competitions. Squad depth, in my opinion, is crucial, and the scale of priorities set will affect consistency in each match across various competitions. With the pressure exerted by Napoli last season, Simone Inzaghi struggled to stabilize his team performance.
Next season, I think Inter Milan will still be a team to be reckoned with in the Scudetto race, but their Champions League campaign seems unlikely to be the same. Inter Milan likely won't reach the final like last season, so Cristian Chivu should focus on fighting for the Scudetto in his first season.
Last season Inter Milan had great run to Champions League final but they did not win treble and could not beat strong Napoli team for domestic league title. For upcoming season it seems unlikely they will reach Champions League final again. With important players gone and potential new coach in Cristian Chivu it makes more sense for Inter to focus on winning domestic league title.
Inter wasn't in the position to win treble last season. Inzaghi was focused on winning only two competitions which are Scudetto and UCL. Later, he changed his mind and felt he needs to focus more on UCL but unfortunately for him, that was a wrong decision because before he realized that he can still win both Scudetto and the Champions league, Napoli was already three points ahead of Inter.
The Champions League was a big disappointed to Inzaghi because their opponent was stronger than them and dealt with them mercilessly. I don't think that Inter have sold their important players. Personally, I feel that only Inzaghi is the most important person that left the club.
