It is known that in some U.S. states as well as in some other countries, the higher your income, the higher your taxes, while in others, the lower your income, the lower your taxes. The simple question I would like to ask you is this: which would you choose, to accept a job with high income in a where the cost of living is high and you pay high taxes, or go for a low paying job in a state where the cost of living is low and the taxes are low? After all, taxes never end.

It depends of how stressful the job actually is and what are the chances for career growth. Another big factor is housing prices/rent.
This is a "pick your poison" type of choice. I hate paying high taxes, but I also wouldn't work for a low paying job. I guess everyone would just try to find the optimal combination of decent pay and decent taxes. I live in a country, where the income tax is really low, but the salaries are also low, in comparison to other European countries. I wouldn't work my ass off in a soul sucking job, just to get a higher salary, only for the sake of having to pay higher taxes and absurd mortgage interest rates(or ridiculously high rent).
