Running a business requires a lot of skills combined in order to make it successful. Today, in the era of Internet and Social Media, almost all businesses are willing to have an online presence. It’s no more a “WANT” but a “NEED” to have a website today. With the help of a website you can reach hundreds of thousands of people within a short time than you would be able to do otherwise. Some key points that you should know about the importance of having a website,

- Great Exposure : A website is your online shop, which allow people not just from your town, or your country but from all around the world to visit and read about your business.
- Better Connectivity : People today are mostly on their phones and would like to connect with businesses online. Therefore if you do not have a website, you would lack that connectivity with your potential customers.
- Reliability : People today see a business which has a Website as reliable. If a business doesn’t have a website, it just pushes people away.
- Leads : Your website can help you collect leads of interested people who may not be buying your service today, but you can still send them occasional newsletters, promo and offers to keep them aware about you and your business.

And more. Now, once you decide to get a website, how do you find a reliable person to work with? There are a lot of factors that you need to consider before hiring someone for the job.

- Nobody knows your business better than you. Therefore, prepare a document and mention all the information about your business in detail.
- Now summarise the details and prepare a post for example here on Reddit, and collect some proposals and portfolios to check. Shortlist the ones you like the most.
- Build a personal connect with those people to see who is the best fit among all of them. How to do it? Simple - Test their patience level. You can ask them questions like,
1. Why did you choose this profession?
2. Why do you think you are better than other website developers?
3. Where do you see yourself in the next 5-10 years?
4. Why do you think my business needs a website?
5. If I only tell you about my business, could you put together all the remaining details like, Number of Pages required, their copy and design a professional website for me without much of my involvement?
6. Do you think you could have done better in your profession if you made certain other decisions?

And more. Skills + patience shows how reliable a person is. The answers to these questions and more, will help you pick the right individual for the job. Reliability also comes with respecting your time, your vision and your hard earned money. Once you are able to find all these attributes in an individual - your search would end and you probably will never look back. Today, there are 1000s of people applying for 1 job. This isn’t going to be a very easy process but as I said, nobody loves your business more than you do, therefore you wouldn’t mind putting in your time and getting things done.
