Congratulations to Crystal Palace for winning this year’s community shield trophy, they have gone against all odds to defeat Liverpool after defeating Manchester City to win the FA cup trophy last season. I must commend Oliver Glasner for a great job with this Palace team and the goalkeeper Dean Henderson for his heroic performance to help Palace achieve this milestone.
The way the game started, I thought Crystal Palace had no chance of winning against an atomic Liverpool. That’s how it felt in the first 10 minutes or so. But as the game went on, Crystal Palace remained calm and determined to make the most of their chances. And Mateta — what a player. Strong, with a great sense of positioning, and calm under pressure. I honestly don’t know how he’s still at Crystal Palace.
At the end of first half, I was also sure Liverpool is going to be score 2 or 3 more goals because they were looking lethal, and their depth is also impressive but suddenly chance of strategy in Crystal Palace stopped them and never allow playing like they needed.
This is being good lesson for Arne Slot and his team for rest of season where they are going to face much better and stronger teams so they needed to be done better work and strategy for these games if they want to keep their title again because few teams are doing good work and surely going to be challenge for them.
Kanote and Van Dijik was not on good level while Mohamed Salah is also looking in not good touch which could be problem for them if they are not going to settle this.
