But everything was beyond my expectations. building a house today is much more expensive than buying a decent, fashionable, used house. A few kilometers from my house, a new housing complex has been built offering simple houses that I thought were comfortable and fashionable enough. I was surprised by the relatively low prices, only around Rp. 165,000,000 to Rp. 360,000,000. In dollars, it's probably only around 10,000 to 20,000 USD or a little more. And yes, the building is new, although not large. But the minimalist design honestly attracted me. Unfortunately, I've already built my house from scratch, and it's currently still under construction, almost 80% complete. But I won't regret it, because this might be the better path for me. However, if I had held off on building a house from scratch and waited for affordable housing to become available, I might now have a new home at a price not far from what the owner has. But I live in a small town, very far from the capital. But I'm comfortable living here.
Don't b deceived by the cheap prices of built houses. These houses are built solely to make profit, so the materials used for construction might be inferior. There are also very flashy and well designed houses for sale in my area but many them are not well built. So your decision to build your house is not a bad one because you will use the best materials for the construction.

Nevertheless, I not considering building my house from the scratch because the stress of building can be overwhelming and the price is also high. I intend to locate a good house and consult some building professionals to evaluate it's quality before buying.

But I'm quite concerned about what's happening here right now, because I see purchasing power starting to decline. Not only are house prices dropping, with not many interested, but even the price of used vehicles here has dropped drastically. Most people are trying to sell their vehicles and homes because of the current economic situation. Some are even selling their homes in the city and buying back homes in the village. And indeed, that would be the best solution for city residents who want to still be able to afford a home to live in while also having some money left over for capital. A few years ago, it wasn't like this. But I don't understand what's happening this year. Hopefully, things will improve.
We are also facing the same situation in my country. People are leaving urban area and moving rural places where the cost of living in low. My plan is to identify someone who wants to sell his property at a cheap price.
