If truly they were good to players and care about their reputation even in the future to come and something comes up for them to fold up, they would have informed the players what is on ground so the players would be aware of it. And they can also tell the players when they would pay off the money to the gamblers instead they decided to leave without informing the players and  they would not quite on the matter
