Of course, Calamity can increase the rate of crime in a country, because the victims are desperate to take care of the basic needs and that will lead to looting for survival. They will also have easy access to places that they can steal from, because the disaster has made the vicinity unsecured due to the damage it caused and people would have abandoned their properties. It's really bad to have a government that turn their deaf hears on these victims.
This is the worst thing that can happen to humanity, This will lead to many crimes that would have not been their if it never happened, people will have to rely on any available means whichever way it is to survive, the environment will be meant to face what it has never experienced before, calamity is something we shouldnt pray for because many things that comes after it, will look like the world in that part is just starting, if this happens, everyone will be at risk, some settlers will use that as an opportunity to cause mayhem to that particular by doing all sorts of things as long as it can bring them food they wouldn't care at all, what they will.carr for at this time is how to survive.

You should not take it for granted the side effects of natural catastrophies. While it is correct that catastrophies cacould  hamper the community & creates a way for an increase to crime cause it exhausts and torments the legal enforcement. You will find many example of reduction in crime rates after a disaster occurs . I could say one Indian ocean tsunami that caused a decrease in the yearly crime rates by mean standard of 244 crime per annum in Indonesia. Another one i know in 2011 the Tokoku earthquake & tsunami in Japan only had 250 thefts reported in the area that was stricken by the disaster which is a little concerning but it does not mean there was a failure of the legal system

These facts are complex and might be different from region to region , the magnitude of the catastrophe or the strength of the society affected. It's critical to analyse the challenges & the capability for unity and recovery that could happen if such disasters happen
