Thank you, I tried it and it really changed the way I intended to. I also figured out that I can change captain and pick a vice-captain. I believe, all the preparations were made and now it is only left to wait for the start of the first game week. I don't quite understand all the points theme yet, but after first several games it should become more clear, I believe.
You also need to arrange your bench players (except the GK) in the order you would them to come in incase one of your starter ends up not playing, they will come in the order left to right from your GK, so the first bench player beside your GK is your first sub and so on.

I'm afraid to tell that beginners luck do not work here, FPL is tougher than a chess game, and the furthest luck likely take you winning a manager of the round, or highest points in a single round, you see the likes of Trofo and Morvilz7z you don't get to beat by a first timer luck... Regardless, you'll definitely enjoy it in here! especially when Igebotz starts to rant about the a**holes he's got on his team.
