As for those near misses, the thing is, we’re just overthinking it. Near miss or not, it’s still a loss. We just have to see it that way (only win or loss)... and forget about the rest, because dwelling on it can lead to emotional gambling.
Yes, the near miss are still lose that we must accept but the reality is that it's this feature that is trapping some gamblers and easily making them lose self control and we can see that with differences in human, not everyone can actually have self control and control over their emotions and when they can not, it becomes easy for the games to mess with their head.
