I guess urge to win huge is one factor why gamblers think about hard to quit especially when they see someone win huge and they try their luck to chase then see if they can also win huge from the game they are playing.
Here is were most people are getting it twisted because they felt that other people's luck can also be theirs and of course, everyone has their own luck and they shouldn't be that influenced with the results outside rather just gamble and try their own luck. Gambling with the sole motivation of others could increase their lose ratios instead it's better to gamble with the least they have and do not tie so much winning to that amount while gambling.
If they feel that other people's luck will also be theirs, that will not happen but yes, they will lose their money before they can win. Luck cannot be predicted when it comes so they should be careful spending their money on gambling. It is better they realize this fact so they will gamble with only the money they can afford to lose. That will not be a problem because the loss will not be bigger and they will avoid the big problem that can come which is gambling addiction.
In gambling we don't just win without spending and the spending is what gives us to that ability to carefully follow up how much we spend gambling, this also helps us to regulate how we gambles or how reduce the attention focused on gambling. Gambling is pretty much better when you used a particular amount to gamble and that amount isn't something you projected for some other things but solely for gambling so that when you lose it you wouldn't attach too much value to it or even regret why using such amount to gamble.
