I think PSG's golden era is over. After winning the Champions League last season, they looked unstoppable. But in the FIFA Club World Cup, they unexpectedly lost two matches. The most surprising of them was the final match against Chelsea.
Yesterday's match was also unexpected. Although the good news is that PSG finally won, they had to fight hard for that victory. I thought PSG would get an easy win and start the season great. But they didn't start great and won against Tottenham. Tottenham played great, but they couldn't win the match in penalties.
You may be right. PSG's golden era may be coming to an end. But we ca not reach a conclusion yet. Because the season hasn't even started yet. Only after seeing PSG's overall performance in the first few weeks will we understand how strong psg is this season.
PSG did not play well in the fifa club world cup final. Yet , we have seen that they won easily against giant teams like Madrid, Munich and Atletico Madrid in the FIFA Club World Cup. But we have seen PSG's defeat against Chelsea in the final. Even though PSG won the super cup against Tottenham, I am not satisfied with their performance. PSG's performance needs to improve further if they want to do well in the Champions League.
Maintaining top form every season will certainly be difficult, especially as other teams have made significant improvements by signing new players, and their strategies will undoubtedly differ from the previous season.
So PSG journey in the UCL next season won't be as smooth as last season. After winning the UCL last season, their performance has declined, not improved. This was evident in the CWC competition, and most recently, they struggled to beat Tottenham. PSG's game against Tottenham was very readable, which led to them conceding easily, although Enrique's brilliant strategy ultimately led to a comeback. But overall, their game is already easy to read. Even against Tottenham who weren't the favorites in the UCL they were overwhelmed let alone in the UCL competition which will be filled with strong teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Munich, and Liverpool.
