He has seen that the team doesn't have what he wanted, staying won't be a good idea that's why he's been stubborn and it could be that he wanted to be like Viktor Gyökeres and things will be easy for him to join Liverpool. For me the player it doing it the wrong way and that is why I think the management will make him feel what he is giving and it won't be like Gyökeres case. He can be pushing to go out for Liverpool to get him and at the end Liverpool might switch their attention to someone else, it could happen but the players is never thinking about that. And you shouldn't blame players when they start acting up because they feel the current club is not up to what they expect and moving outvis the best meanwhile they have more than a year with the club.
