Tottenham were leading 2-0 till 84th minute of the game but PSG kept their morals high and scored two goals in 85th and 94th minute of the game. Due to these two goals from PSG the game went to penalties where PSG won. If Tottenham had done good defence in last moment of the game they would be winner of this UEFA super cup final. EPL new season is about to kick off and Tottenham need to learn from mistakes they have done in UEFA super cup final and try not to repeat them.
This to a large extent showed just how making the wrong substitution and trying to go defensive with over 10+ minutes on the clock could change the game. Tottenham felt they had won the game having 2 goals ahead and were in a good position to take the win but, they chose to seat back and defend rather than attacking and adding more pressure on PSG. It sure did turn side ways as at the 85th minute PSG broke their dead luck and in the plus minutes, they got their equalizer and won with penalties.
I was personally disappointed and amazed at the way the game ended in penalties after the hopes were already lost by many PSG supporters and the winning hopes raised by the Tottenham fans. This is indeed the classical example of football punishing complacency, as its mentioned. It is indeed true that whenever youre playing with a dangerous club like PSG, you must keep the spirit alive and keep pushing for more wins until the end. Tottenham got the control, the lead and the momentum until they tried to fall back to protecting the two early goals instead of thriving to win more, thereby making them to learn the hardest lesson in their respective careers. The lesson which was learnt by me today is, going defensive in a tough games like this can invite the nature if comback the tottenham guys experienced today and congratulations to the winners for pulling off such magnificent performance and achievement at the tail end of the game when everyone thought it was gonna be otherwise.
