There is no doubt about that, in fact there are players who have so much discipline that not even emotions are something that motivates them when it comes to playing, they only have the game to enjoy it in a healthy way , reaching that level is something great, but obviously to get there you need to go through many things, experiences that make us wiser and obviously will keep us away from addictions.
You are right, sometimes experiences can make you more careful about a particular thing, it's only foolishness if the gambler doesn't learn from his mistakes. Most of the valuable lessons that I've learnt are not from the mistakes that others made by my own errors.
