With a man down Aston Villa were still able to hold down Newcastle at home as they played out a goalless draw to begin their 2025/26 season campaign. In a bet I had played earlier I didn't see a winner from the game and I went for a both teams to score option, I was actually expecting a 1 - 1 draw and not a goalless draw that's why I went for this very option but at the end it still failed.
Draw is a better result for Villa instead of get a lose at their home game. They played quite well in this game, but a red card gave them so much pressure. There's nothing they can do except keep consistently defend, and push the game to draw. In the end, they clearly save one point from this game.
Although i'm still seeing it as a lose consider they have lose two points in home game, it's still better than get nothing.
They might be winning this game if their player would not get a red card. Not a good day for them.
Aston Villa held Newcastle to a goalless draw, playing with just 10 men for over 20 minutes, a moment a team of Newcastle's stature should have capitalized on to score. However, Newcastle failed to capitalize on the opportunity, as their attack remains weak. Newcastle will need to work hard to improve their attack if they want to compete with the top teams this season.
And I also think if center-back Ezri Konsa hadn't received a red card, I think the story would have been different.
