What we saw in the African Nations championship competition from the super eagles is an effect of the flaws that has been taken to be normal in the grassroot football in terms of scouting and picking thr best skillful players to make the national team at all levels of international competitions. The best are ignored while mediocres are giving opportunity to represent. What an embarrassing stat
I disagree with you a little on this even though we know that the grassroots football is our major setback. The selection process of the apex team couldn't have been influenced by the grassroots selection since the national team coach is at liberty to choose any Nigerian player from any league all Iver the world. His decision at that level is not influenced by any factor such as tribe and ethnicity but pure based on what he feels is best for his squad.
It's ok to disagree. You and I wouldn't have a clue of what's happening behind closed doors that may have influenced the decision of the national coach to have made such selections that wouldn't give him stunning results. The issue of national team coaches to have total independence in selection of his team players has always been an issue of contention and I wouldn't want to argue that any further.
