10 years of gambling yet still not making it, I think he really needs to find another way of making money already and stop focusing on gambling. He already wasted a lot of time on it while also losing a lot of money. He could have bought a car already if he saved all those loses.
Since you seem to be a close friend and have concern of him, its time you get to intervene and say something about what he is doing. A good friend would always lead a friend to a better life.
Gambling isnt a way of making it to begin with, this is where the beginning of failure actually starts from. If anyone has that urgency to just get rich from gambling then he or she might end up losing because they are going to gamble with their emotions. He's wasting a lot of time gambling but no one can convince him to back off if his is already focused on making it through gambling by all means

Gambling can be profitable, but it not easy money. To get profit from gambling you have at least to work really hard, but it wouldn`t be guarantee of your profit - you must have some skills also.
For the main part of gamblers gambling is a way to get emotions or relax for money.
If someone lose big enough sums
for ten years and think that he will win Jackpot and be with the profit - he is too silly for gambling.
