Sometimes it spreads fear or panic & other times it makes people doubt science or facts. Social media makes it travel fast so more people believe it before it’s checked. Over time it weakens trust in media, experts & even friends.
I like the way you bring out this two important consequences of having fake news in the society, because it's part of the confusion we see among people and why some have resulted into serious arguments and fight, because some are in support of the fake news to be real, while some are not daft or ignorant of what is going on and thereby go against it, fake news has caused a lot of mixed reactions from the people and to believe in anything they hear on the social media becomes a difficult thing because of the incidence of fake news.
