some said that it’s because the philippines is a poor country and that’s why they get addicted easily but is it possible that most gamblers who got addicted are old people past retirement and have nothing else to do anymore?
In my country, the elderly who retire are busy raising their grandchildren or doing something that gives them pleasure, not touching on financial issues. I always thought that the danger of gambling addiction is always higher at a young age, and I am surprised to learn a different reality that exists in the Philippines. Do people who have lived a life and gained life experience, and wisdom not understand the danger of gambling addiction? Old age is dangerous enough to experience stress regularly, and it is stress that should stop the elderly from gambling, since frequent losses can have a detrimental effect on health. In addition, if the Philippines is considered a poor country, are the elderly ready to regularly lose what they usually lose in gambling?
I don't think it is because of the age in general, even in the PH. There are other factors contributing to gambling addiction like their economic conditions. If there are large population who are under the poverty line, expect that a lot of them will resort to gambling as a means to find a living. However, we all know that instead of gaining profits, usually, gamblers will be financially broke because mostly, you will be on the losing side when it comes to gambling.
