Hoffenheim finished last season in 15th place out of 18 teams, while Leverkusen finished in second place in the points table, so Leverkusen should definitely win their first match of the German league and secure a big win. I think Leverkusen fans should not worry too much about these small matches, but should be more tense about the matches against their stronger teams. I don't have any confidence in the current manager's strategy, so until I see a big team against Leverkusen, I won't say that Leverkusen can perform well under this manager. If Leverkusen performs well against Bayern Munich, VfB Stuttgart, Hoffenheim, Dortmund, they can achieve something good this season.
I think by the same logic that you used that Hoffenheim game should be easy for Bayer Leverkusen simply because they have finished at higher position than their opponents I think they should be actually winning the opponents you actually listed simply because they finished in higher positions than them also. First of all I don’t think we should actually use the last season table positions to measure the chances of clubs this season but we should actually see what each club has had in store for the season that’s why it’s a new season.
This though doesn’t mean I am against Bayer Leverkusen because in terms of squad quality Leverkusen has it in depth than their weekend opponent. I noticed how many of the fans have actually been disrespecting Erik Ten Hag and simply think he is not qualified to manage this Bayer Leverkusen with you lots not actually looking at the fact that he has a depleted squad and are just waiting for him to actually lose and call for his sack.
