As for the matchup, I respect Crawford for stepping up. Moving up in weight against someone like Canelo is no joke, and it shows Bud isn’t afraid of the risk. But styles make fights – Canelo’s power and size advantage are real factors here, while Crawford has speed, accuracy, and IQ on his side.
If it goes to the scorecards and it’s tight, history tells us judges tend to lean Canelo’s way. That’s why Crawford probably needs to win rounds very clearly or even go for a stoppage.
It shouldn’t be a close one if Crawford beats Canelo. This is his first attempt, but he has to make a strong performance since he’s not getting any younger. If he loses here, he’ll just go back to his division where he reigns and at least he’ll know his limit.
In fights like this I always like to bet on the one trying to prove himself, and that’s Crawford.
And the fact that he’s the underdog makes it even more tempting.
