A unique but strange market in the gambling industry.
While going through Rollbit sportsbook today on what it’s got for the West Ham United vs Chelsea fixture, I find the 4.7 odds given to West Ham United to be a little generous, especially for the fact that, they would be playing host to Chelsea me haven’t lost their first match of the season, chances of Chelsea beating them in this first leg would be really difficult.
However, the market I found to be unique and don’t know if you guys are actively taking this bet is the total passes. The number of passes in a game by a team being ranked and bet upon in an over and under fashion, same way with the goals and corners although, it’s just so much.
Are you guys actively betting on this market?
i took a look at the match you mentioned, and i think it's quite normal for west ham to have odds of around 5.00. chelsea has generally won the matches between them, and they currently have a much stronger squad. it will probably be a high-scoring match, and chelsea will probably win.
as for the other topic you mentioned, the total passes bet, i don't think it's a logical bet to play. i don't think anyone would take this bet with a logical reason and analysis behind it. who can know that? some teams pass more than others, that's true. a team with a counterattacking style will probably pass less than a team that plays with a spread-out formation, but this can change from match to match.
i’ve never analyzed passing statistics in detail before. but for there to be approximately 900 successful passes in a match, there would need to be 10 passes per minute, and that seems a bit challenging. because in the premier league, the ball is “in play” for an average of 55 minutes in a 90-minute match. we’ll see how many passes there are at the end of the match.
