I'm in the UK, and our current government is intent on sucking money out of any savings or assets that we own. They are starting to impose Draconian measures to control any financial transactions or holdings. I believe that this could lead to an increase in the use of P2P transactions that are kept away from exchanges and government control. Do you believe that this will lead to an increase in transactions between members of fora such as Bitcoin Talk, or will such transactions be a rich grazing ground for government investigations?
In the early days of bitcoin, when the government was seriously against it, this forum was serving the good purpose of P2P until people and government began to trust and accommodate bitcoin and transactions within forum members reduced drastically.
If the government wants to return to hostility against bitcoin, we have no other option than to resolve to using forums for transactions, as it used to be in the past.
I don’t think it will be that easy for people in the UK to even buy bitcoin on online forums unless you’re using online banks like Monzo or Revolut to make the transactions, for the time being these banks are less stricter than traditional banks on crypto transactions.
