Well, I tried using Firefox, and it works just fine—no freeze or slowdown.
What are your current device specs? It might just be a RAM issue; that's why it takes long to load or it freezes because you don't have enough RAM memory.
If you have a laptop with a Celeron CPU and 2GB of RAM, then expect to see slowdown when browsing.

Try opening the task manager to find the culprit; it might be ram or CPU. If you see the 100% usage on CPU then it's your CPU or if it's RAM then the only solution that I know is to replace the RAM or add more RAM. You can also try adjusting the Virtual Ram on advanced settings and turn the visual effect to best performance. Let's see if it can speed up your browsing a bit.
