I recently encountered an ad from youtube about a gambling platform and it featured a very popular celebrity in my country. It was short but a good amount of time was dedicated at the end warning gamblers that gambling will not be the solution to their financial problems and it will not improve their economic status. It got my nod of approval because it really is that easy. But some governments still think that this kind of warning is not enough for gamblers to stay responsible. But don’t you think that a constant reminder can wake someone up from delusion? What do you think? Is this enough or should there be more ways to promote responsible gambling?
You're right, these adverts can spend 50 seconds massively hyping up a casino, making it look exhilarating enough to crush someone's boredom and potentially make them rich, yet at the very end go through the motions of "be gamble aware" to comply with some government guidance. It is done to make them look good to a regulator who might check the adverts but actually becomes a bit of a trigger by itself. They can often rush through it at incomprehensible speed or try to incorporate it into the advert, making the message indistinguishable from the rest. Casinos are specialists at extracting extra profits from customers and all that psychology is put to work in every gambling ad as well.
