This is definitely going to be a great plan and it will work to prevent the waste of heat generated by mining. But the biggest obstacle is the mining ban and public opinion. Even the uninterrupted power connection is a bit of a sceptic. I don't know how they will fight against it. However, if it is successful, besides being financially profitable, there will be huge environmental benefits as well, such as reducing energy waste, reducing carbon emissions and inventing a heating system using the heat of data centers or mining farms. However, due to the ban, it may still take time to implement it.
Mayor also proposes accepting taxes in BTC and adding Bitcoin to city reserves.
I must thank Ken Sim and his team for such a bold initiative. Vancouver is already known as a Bitcoin paradise. Among them, the Bitcoin tax benefits and the facility to pay government bills directly in Bitcoin are certainly good steps. But I wonder, will anyone be willing to tell the government that they have a valuable asset like Bitcoin? Or will they be willing to spend their Bitcoin? To me, this doesn't seem like a good thing at all or a convenient move for Bitcoiners, as it could raise security concerns and could hurt the very purpose of Satoshi creating Bitcoin.
